Scott Widmeyer (BSJ, 1974), sponsor of the SOJ’s Widmeyer Communications Professor in Public Relations, became a member of the prestigious New York City 2007-08 David Rockefeller Fellows Program.
As part of the program, executives participate in working sessions with New York’s top corporate, nonprofit and government leaders to discuss major issues impacting the city and explore opportunities to partner with public and nonprofit organizations to support the city.
Widmeyer has provided strategic counsel to numerous decision makers, including presidents, governors, chief executive officers and union leaders for more than 25 years.
He is founder and chairman of Widmeyer Communications, an independent, full-service communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and New York.
In 2002, he was elected to the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics Hall of Fame. In 1997, he was named West Virginia’s Master Entrepreneur of the Year and in 1994 was honored by the Public Relations Society of West Virginia with its Lifetime Achievement Award.
